Our Rug Cleaning Process

Experts recommend having your oriental rug cleaned by professionals every two to three years. Thorough cleanings prevent grit, dirt, and soil from building up in the foundation, which can damage the oriental rug’s fibers and restore the pile fibers’ natural luster. At Khazai Rug Cleaning, we pride ourselves on our expert oriental rug cleaning process.

Initial Inspection

We look for problems like a color run, tears, holes, dry rot, worn areas, stains, fading, damaged fringe, unraveling edges, discoloration, moth and carpet beetle damage during our inspection, previous repairs, animal hair, and pet stains.

Knowing these details provides our experts at Khazai Rug Cleaning with the information needed to determine the correct process and rug cleaning services unique to your rugs. That is an essential step in the rug repair and rug cleaning process at Khazai Rug Cleaning.

Our expert knowledge also allows us to identify all aspects of your oriental rugs to determine the best treatment and cleaning techniques. We note the many factors such as the rug condition, rug type, age, pattern, origin, rug foundation, knotting type, fringe, color, and fiber content.

Carpet and dry cleaners don’t have this specialized knowledge.

Dusting

You should take your grandma’s method and beat on the back of your rugs in the yard. Dusting an oriental rug is the most critical step in the rug cleaning process.

Oriental rugs collect dirt, grit, pet dander, dust mites, pollen, and dust in the foundation that can gradually cause a premature tear to the rug and be harmful to your health.

Before cleaning an oriental rug, one must beat the dirt and dust out of the rug’s foundation. If the dirt and filth are still there before washing the rug, it turns into a slimy substance that dries and will cause premature wear from the inside out, damaging your rug.

Additionally, this substance is much harder to remove after improper cleaning. At Khazai Rug Cleaning, we use a particular dusting machine for this purpose, and we repeat the process until no grit or dust comes out.

Most other cleaning companies do not remove this embedded dirt and dust, which means that the rug is not clean. We have re-cleaned many rugs previously taken to “professional” cleaners and removed enormous amounts of dirt.

Rinsing/Flooding

The best method to deep clean a hand-made rug is to flood it with water. Our initial rinsing process, otherwise known as “Flooding,” helps make all dirt looser and all dried materials more liquified.

That is why we soak the rug entirely in the first place. That is similar to the centuries-old washing area rugs by immersing them in a mountain-fed river’s cool water flow.

Cleaning

When it comes to cleaning your oriental rug, we use entirely natural pH balanced detergents that are the most efficient for your precious rug. Then, we scrub your oriental rug thoroughly, pulling out the remaining dirt and odors trapped inside the fibers.

Washing a rug in this manner restores the natural luster of the rug fibers.

Next, we rinse the rug again. Next, we soak the rug deep into the water and flush out the remaining detergents by a roller.

Extraction

Extraction is when we remove the remaining water from the rug after the cleaning and rinsing process. Using a powerful extractor, we remove most of the moisture from the rug as quickly as possible.

Drying/Fringe Grooming

The rugs are air-dried in a rack or lying flat using fans. Next, we touch up the fringes. After washing and drying, sometimes the fringe has some mineralization or has dried and looks unkempt. We wash and rinse the fringe to bring it back to life.

Finishing The Rug

Finishing removes any remaining soil on the tips of the rug fibers caused by wicking. Finishing makes the rug fibers feel incredibly soft & fluffy; the rug’s colors really “POP!” out and protect the rug from re-staining.

Final Inspection

The last part of our rug cleaning process is the Final Inspection. Here a rug is thoroughly checked to ensure that all of the services were correctly performed and the rug meets our high standards of excellence.

Khazai Rugs guarantees all cleaning services.

During the final step, the 5th generation owners in the rug industry will inspect every rug to ensure it meets expert standards. If any part is not up to the standard, your rug will go back through the rug cleaning process.
