What better way to celebrate a special occasion than with cake? Homemade or store-bought has always brought back memories of my childhood to me, maybe it’s the same for you.
While these delicious creations are fun to make and even more enjoyable to eat, inevitably the stains they could leave behind always create a headache for us.
The good news is this, cake stains are almost always the result of food coloring located in the cake or icing itself. Therefore, the main challenge is to clean food colors including its frosting.
We have put together a step by step guide to remove cake stains from a rug. Follow the instruction, and you’ll be able to make your rug looks great again!
“Although the sugar in the cake can be bad for your rug the main culprit is the color from the icing that causes the most problems”
1. Equipment Needed
Hydrogen Peroxide │ White Vinegar │ Terry Cloth │ Isopropyl Alcohol
Mix ¼ cup of Hydrogen Peroxide with 1 Tbsp. of vinegar in 1 cup of cold water.
Apply solution directly to the stained area and let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Blot up the stained area with clean terry cloth.
Repeat as necessary until stain is gone.
IF STAINED AREA REMAINS FOLLOW THESE SECONDARY STEPS:
Directly apply rubbing alcohol to stain and cover stain with a terry cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol.
Frequently change the terry cloth out as it picks up the stain.
Be sure to keep stain and terry cloth moist with alcohol.
Allow to air dry.
