1. Equipment Needed

  1. Water 
  2. Liquid Dish Soap/Dry Cleaning Solvent 
  3. White Cloth or Paper Towel  

2. Steps 

1. Upon discovery of the shoe polish stain scrape the remaining residue left using a butter knife, the sooner the better when it comes to this situation.

2.  Next you will want to get a dry-cleaning solvent of your choice to the spot. Stain removal guide: Shoe Polish, Sponge the shoe polish stain by blotting it until all of the liquid is gone. 

3. Now you can make a solution containing 2 cups of warm water and one tablespoon of liquid hand washing detergent. Apply the solution to the shoe polish stain as you continue to blot the stain being sure that you are slowly absorbing all the liquid.

4.  Lastly pour cold water onto the stain and continually blot until your rug is dry.
