1. Equipment Needed

White Vinegar  │  Water  │  Spray Bottle │  Hydrogen Peroxide

2. Steps

1.

The first thing you can do is begin drying out your rug the best you can.

2.

As soon as you’ve dried your rug completely remove the remaining debris by vacuuming the area. Depending on how much odor remains you can also use one cup of white vinegar for every two cups of water and add them to a spray bottle and spritz the carpet creating a misty layer.

3.

If the mildew persists you can also use hydrogen peroxide as an alternative, for every part hydrogen peroxide used make sure to use five parts water also. This is a great way to combat mold spores and eliminate musty odors as well.

4.

Lastly make sure to dry your rug out by raising the stained area up so that both sides can get air and never apply direct heat to your rug.
